TALUS-SPONSORED ATHLETES

TALUS has acquired the endorsements of three high profile athletes
who have personally used and experienced the great benefits of
ColdAvenger™.
Ed Viesturs, Rachael Scdoris, and John Stetson are highly recognized
for their unique outdoor adventures and are official TALUS athletes.

Ed Viesturs has climbed the world’s fourteen highest
mountains without the use of bottled oxygen. He is one of the
strongest and most remarkable mountaineers in the world. He skied
with ColdAvenger™
in Idaho at subzero temperatures and was impressed
with its ability to allow him to breathe easily while skiing and at
the same time keep his face warm and dry. Mr. Viesturs will be using
the ColdAvenger™
on a Canadian Arctic ski trek this Spring. Please
read his book, No Shortcuts to the Top, 2006, Broadway Press, New
York to experience the exhilarating adventures of mountaineer Ed Viesturs. (www.EdViesturs.com)

Rachael Scdoris at 21 years of age is a renowned sled dog
musher. She fought hard not only to compete in the 2005 Iditarod
race, but she fought hard during the race and finished, all while
being classified as legally blind! This is a remarkable feat of
courage and endurance. She will again be racing in 2008. Rachael
Scdoris is regarded as one of the top 100 female athletes in
America. She first learned about ColdAvenger™
at our Portland, Oregon
trade show in 2007. She will be using the ColdAvenger in this year’s
Iditarod. Read her inspiring story in her book, No End in Sight. (www.RachaelScdoris.com)

John Stetson is a preeminent sled dog musher who finished second
in the John Beargrease 25th Anniversary sled Dog Race in Duluth,
Minnesota. ColdAvenger™ helped John endure the minus 40ºF
wind chill
and temperatures of minus 20ºF. John Stetson will accompany Ed Viesturs on a Canadian Arctic adventure this Spring. He
will also race in the 2008 Iditarod and has a personal bet, a chocolate
milkshake to the winner, with friend Rachael Scdoris on the outcome
of the race. (www.epicsleddogadventures.com)

Eric Meyer's passion for the outdoors grew as a teenager
backpacking and climbing in wilderness of Montana. Now as a
physician, Eric has been able to continue his love for
mountaineering while incorporating his profession as an
anesthesiologist to study the effect that cold weather and altitude
has on the respiratory system. Eric has extensive experience
climbing in North and South America as well as the Himalayas where
he submitted the world’s highest peak, Mt. Everest in 2004. Eric is
also experienced in the Cross-Country Ski industry where he works
with Olympic athletes and acts as a volunteer physician for the U.S.
Nordic Combined Ski Team.

Talus Lee McClain signed on as a Talus Athlete at just 4 weeks
of age. He made history as the youngest adventurer to wear the Talus
ColdAvenger cold weather facemask...and the only athlete to wear it
as a full-body bunting.
Although Talus still lives with his parents in Alaska, he already
has plenty of experience admiring the outdoors and staring at the
aurora. He has an adventurous life ahead of him. His intended
expeditions include canoeing, nordic skiing, camping, fishing,
snowshoeing, hiking, berry picking, mountain biking and more staring
at the aurora. He is currently in training, which requires a lot of
sleeping, eating and occasional crying. Keep your eyes on this
athlete as he is soon likely to escape from his crib and explore the
woods and mountains around him. Talus Outdoor Technologies would
like to thank Talus Lee's parents for sharing his story and his
great photo, and for picking such a rad name for their adorable son!
You'll
have opportunities to meet these Talus athletes at future TALUS-sponsored events. We will bring you updates and photos on
Talus News
as their adventures unfold. |
